Jefferson Nickel Coins with War Nickels

The Jefferson nickel has been around since1938 and was designed by Felix Schlag.

From 1942 to 1945 the composition of the Jefferson nickel was changed to a silver alloy because of the war and the mint marks, including the Philadelphia “P”, were placed in large form at the 12 o’clock position on the reverse of the coin. These Jefferson nickel coins are known as the war nickels.

      • Just when was a return too much? If your Five pencert markup is actually reasonable, how about Ten %? Can be a 25 pencert markup unfounded? Would likely one hundred pct earnings always be unconscionable? Should the earnings edge end up being linked with the cost of a cash, or even should it be related to industry cost

    • Your blog has ipirsned me to really rethink the way I blog. I have to tell you I appreciate your great work.

      • I disagree with kneipeg coins in a bank. Banks are NOT a safe place to keep anything at all, especially coins because coins are often made of silver (or gold) which can (and have been) confiscated by the government. Keep coins in your home.

      • My husband and i have been quite ntutrfaoe when Peter managed to round up his survey because of the precious recommendations he obtained from your weblog. It’s not at all simplistic just to continually be offering procedures other folks might have been trying to sell. And we know we now have the blog owner to thank because of that. These explanations you made, the straightforward web site navigation, the friendships you can help to engender it is mostly unbelievable, and it’s really aiding our son in addition to us consider that the concept is satisfying, which is certainly exceedingly serious. Thanks for the whole lot!

      • You must find the coin bag in level 7 to get the one in level 8, and find the one in level 7 and 8 before nnfdiig the one in level 9. If this doesn’t work, contact club penguin because there has been a few errors with these stamps.

      • Much of the reason pbrbaoly lies in the fact that most banks anywhere in the world will not exchange coins. Most Canadian currency is now in the form of coins, up to the $2 CND coin. This makes the coins useless to the merchant as they cannot be exchanged and in the US most US customers do not know what Canadian coins look like so they would not want to receive them in change. Also, Canadian coins, while the same denominations as US coins (excepting the $2 Canadian coin), have a different metal composition. That means that they do not work in US vending machines. You also have the fact that while most of the Canadian population lives quite close to the US, the reverse is not true. Finally, I have always been surprised that Canada accepted US coins and currency so freely. Few countries accept someone else’s currency and coinage. That is, after all, a part of soverignity! Border towns are, of course, often different. In many locales, border town merchants will accept both currencies, giving change in the appropriate one. This is becoming true in the southwest US for example.

      • This is very important to know, gsnodeos that’s a terrible rash to have just from wearing something pretty! All of my jewelry has to be nickle free and most importantly lead free!

    • very inritesteng, i still make more money on pandas. and the Perth mint is a higher quality coin-maker. but im tellin’ ya those pandas make BANK for the holders, year after year.

      • The only reason popele think that Idina Menzel was the best was because she was the original, and that’s how popele know the show/role. All of them are good, otherwise they wouldn’t be on Broadway.

      • Fortunately, the Supreme Court intervened and hrretovow Reconstruction A majority Yankee court intervened to declared the civil rights legislation unconstitutional. How do you figure? Yankees created the CRM monster and then drove a stake through its heart. How does that work? Does it suggest the emancipation, like that supported by Lee and Davis, was a desperate measure by a desperate man in order to win a struggle that was fundamentality a desire to preserve the Union? The pro-life bible thumping Yankee suffragettes who wished equality or freedom? There is a difference. Prohibition was in many respects an attempt by Yankees to impose their values and utopian worldview on European Catholics And this is a problem because ? Part of the value system, of the Northern Klan, was protecting the ethnic genetic interests of founding Americans. The utopian Yankee view, as expressed by Representative William N. Vaile of Colorado, was What we do claim is that the northern European and particularly Anglo-Saxons made this country. Oh, yes; the others helped. But… [t]hey came to this country because it was already made as an Anglo-Saxon commonwealth. They added to it, they often enriched it, but they did not make it, and they have not yet greatly changed it. We are determined that they shall not It is a good country. It suits us. And what we assert is that we are not going to surrender it to somebody else or allow other people, no matter what their merits, to make it something different. If there is any changing to be done, we will do it ourselves. [Cong. Rec., April 8, 1924, 5922]The counter culture, writes Kevin MacDonald, was disproportionately Jewish. The Jewish contraculture continued to sustain a radical, specifically Jewish subculture into the 1950s long after the great majority of Jews were no longer in the working class (Liebman 1979, 206, 289ff). The fundamentally Jewish institutions and families that constituted the Old Left then fed into the New Left (Liebman 1979, 536ff). The original impetus of the 1960s student protest movement almost necessanly began with the scions of the relatively well-to-do, liberal-to-left, disproportionately Jewish intelligentsia the largest pool of those ideologically disposed to sympathize with radical student action in the population (Lipset 1971, 83; see also Glazer 1969). Flacks (1967, 64) found that 45 percent of students involved in a protest at the University of Chicago were Jewish, but his original sample was adjusted’ to obtain better balance (Rothman & Lichter 1982, 82). Jews constituted 80 percent of the students signing a petition to end ROTC at Harvard and 30-50 percent of the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) the central organization of student Jews also tended to be the most publicized leaders of campus protests (Sachar 1992, 804). Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, and Rennie Davis achieved national fame as members of the Chicago Seven group convicted of crossing state lines with intent to incite a riot at the 1968 Democratic National Convention. Cuddlhy (1974, 193ff) notes the overtly ethnic subplot of the trial, particularly the infighting between defendant Abbie Hoffman and Judge Julius Hoffman, the former representing the children of the Eastern European immigrant generation that tended toward political radicalism, and the latter representing the older, more assimilated German-Jewish establishment. During the trial Abbie Hoffman ridiculed Judge Hoffman in Yiddish as Shande fur de Goyim (disgrace for the gentiles) translated by Abbie Hoffman as Front man for the WASP power elite. Clearly Hoffman and Rubin (who spent time on a Kibbutz in Israel) had strong Jewish identifications and antipathy to the white Protestant establishment.

      • I think one of the things olidhng back some collectors is a lack of knowledge and vocabulary concerning military terms, a lot of which turn up on the coins. Lets use a GAC as an example, a Ground Assault Convoy is a sight to behold, and done correctly help secure an AO, or Area of Operations. You get the idea, how do people collect something they cannot decipher. Maybe we can put together a list of common acronyms and vocabulary as we find it on coins??ThanksBruce

      • Posted on I’ve been absent for a while, but now I mreember why I used to love this site. Thanks , I will try and check back more frequently. How frequently you update your web site?

      • If you are looking tougrhh change or rolls the cents would be best. There are the 1998,1999 and 2000 wide AM coins. The AM in America have a wide space between them. then there is the 1992 and 1992-D close AM. Then here is the 1995 doubled die obverse,1984 double ear, 1983 doubled die reverse, 1970 small date (high 7) and the 1969-S doubled die obverse. The above coins sell for $4.00 to several hundred depending on which one you find. Hope this helps.

      • Foreign countries like the USA are not olatgbied to accept Canadian currency. Some US stores do this as a courtesy to tourists and cross-border shoppers. In some cases, they actually lose money on a sale by accepting $CAD, because their bank will charge them a fee to convert the Canadian funds to US currency.Put yourself in their shoes: If you paid for your groceries at the store and the store owner decided to give you your change in Mexican Pesos or British Pounds because he “didn’t have time to get to a bank today”, would you complain?

      • What the hell is this bullshit? You never osluhd take a coin out of a plastic case if it came that way. Most of the time as soon as you open the case the coin will decrease in value.

      • The 1874 gold $1 had a mintage of 198,800 so is up there coaemrpd to other dates. It has a value of $115 in grade fine to $190 in grade extra fine. In mint state the coin is worth $250 and up depending of its mint state grade. Values are about what a dealer would pay. When gold is higher the values go up.

    • Before the Yankees interfered with salvery, Maryland, Kentucky, and Virginia were selling their slaves to the Deep South and their state legislatures were appropriating funds to resettle free negroes in Liberia. The solution to salvery was economic diversification, gradual emancipation, and African colonization. The solution to salvery was not a fanatical utopian social movement that demanded the immediate abolition of salvery on moral and religious grounds and their integration into American society as American citizens. If the South had been left alone, we could have dealt with the salvery problem in our own way.

    • if the 1921 canadian nckiel is real then it could be worth a fortune. i know somsone who got one sold to the roadshow last week that is in winnipeg this week and they bought it for just under $10,000. they apparently will go upwards of 70k for mint cond ones.. it because 1921 canadian nckiels were made of real silver. they stopped mintin them that year and changed to nckiel in 1922 so 1922 on are probably not worth much but pre 1921 could be worth tonnes..good luck!

  5. Great site for this topic. Anyway plesae visit my site for some more info and great great tips.

  6. i love your blog, i have it in my rss rdeaer and always like new things coming up from it.

    • This is simliar to idea bhneid the nickname for the Canadian two dollar coin, the Toonie .The original dollar coin was nicknamed the Loonie due to the picture of a loon on it. When they came out with a two dollar coin, that was the natural choice for the nickname.

  7. Fantastic post, tnakhs so much for sharing. Do you happen to have an RSS feed I can subscribe to?

    • Recently a local BP in florida sefured to accept a canadian nickel (yes, 5 cents) the irony is I got the nickel from them two day s earlier in change! This is bad business and I intend to speak with the owner. I am 52 and I’ve only been to canada once in my entire life time when I was in elementary school (what a beautiful place even their inner cities are clean) anyway, in my lifetime I have received a LOT of canadian coins from American gas stations and to have one refuse to take one from me is an absolute outrage. It’s inexcusale.

    • My wife and i ended up being now fortunate when Ervin could omeplcte his research using the ideas he grabbed from your own web pages. It is now and again perplexing just to be releasing information and facts that many people today might have been making money from. And now we keep in mind we have the website owner to thank for that. The type of explanations you’ve made, the simple web site navigation, the relationships you make it easier to promote it’s mostly wonderful, and it’s helping our son in addition to the family imagine that the article is entertaining, which is certainly quite essential. Thanks for the whole thing!

    • i got it. it’s O(b-a).you flip the coin b-a times, getting a 0 or a 1 => a birnay number with b-a digits. you turn it into base10, getting a number between 0 and 2^(b-a+1)-1, be it X.P=X/(2^(b-a+1)) => P is between [0, 1), a float number.we then divide [0,1) in b-a intervals, and where P falls, that’s our number. if it falls right on the border, the right interval is considered (that’s why the b has a ) ).I might be thinking way too complicated stuff, but that’s all for now if I find anything else, I’ll let you know

  8. Try American svleir eagles or Canadian Silver Maples coins. Silver eagles say “1oz fine svleir”, the Maples say ” Fine Silver 1oz Argent Pur”. Do some research! Also you can buy svleir bars online from APMEX, Gainsvillecoins, or try SilverSaver program. I buy all my svleir through SilverSavers. I made a youtube video about this program. Copy and paste this link: watch?v=FFT63-EsEgM in the youtube search or check out my channel and look for “svleirsaver”.

    • Some places close to the bdroer will accept Canadian currency, but be careful, because they are not obligated to update their currency exchange rate daily or even weekly so while our dollar is worth a lot right now, they may have very old exchange rates and you’ll get short changed.A LOT of places in Canada won’t accept US funds either use the local currency. It’s much easier. Exchange your funds at home before you go, or just use your credit card credit cards give the most up to date currency exchange rates.

    • Works well! It is not obvious, tghuoh. Will new users know to click on the yellow bubble or time stamp?Within the thread itself, perhaps you can put the same yellow bubble next to the title of the thread to keep things consistent? Maybe a yellow bubble with a down arrow?

  9. There were no U.S. coins made for that visit by the U.S. mints, that is why info is sracce. It may be a private medal. I see no Japanese coin for the event either. I would need photo’s or high quality scans of it (both sides) to do further research. If you can do that click on my icon and email me. I will send you an email address to send them to. You can also see if a local coin club can help. Most U.S. coin dealers would have no idea of what you have or it’s value.

    • I’m really issrepmed together with your writing talents and also with the format for your weblog. Is that this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself? Anyway stay up the nice quality writing, it is rare to peer a nice blog like this one today..

    • It’s too bad the federal rveerse doesn’t read your website. Just think if we all traded in our old pennies for new ones and the fed melted the old ones and sold the copper, we could probably reduce the national debt in no time.

    • Posted on Hello, my name is Alex, i’m a newbie here. I relaly do like your resource and relaly interested in things you discuss here, also would like to enter your community, hope it is possible:-) Cya around, best regards, Alex!

  11. Peerfct shot! Thanks for your post!

    • I bet if you pointed a gun at them and told them they had to take your money they would. It sldhuon’t be too hard to find a gun you are in the states. Just walk up to anyone on the street and offer them money for there gun. Everyone in the states has a gun. If the person on the street wont take Canadian money either than just steal one from a 3 year old because all kids in the states recieve a gun for thier third b-day.

    • Chocolate covered wfflaes! Screw figuring out the dollar bill feeder, this country was working on much greater things! Covering breakfast products in chocolate and figuring out how to put it in a vending machine!

    • Hello Wayne,I want to thank you today for sharing the great taricle about the Numis Network company along with the opportunity the taricle presented to me! After researching Numis and reading your taricle it was clear to me that this was an unbelievable business opportunity for such a small investment of only $75.00 to make the enrollment.I was very impressed with the beautiful MS-70 American Silver Eagle coin from ANACS, along with the high quality leather attache case, which by the way included to my surprise an audio book by Robert Kiyosaki. “The Business of the 21st Century” awesome! To top it off I received a welcome email from Numis within minutes after my enrollment. The mail included the link to my new Numis website and it is over the top I must say! I felt so confident and empowered after receiving the Numis Portfolio and website. I immediately began calling friends encouraging them to enroll. Within less than 24 hours of my enrollment I was successful signing my first rep. I Thank you Wayne for sponsoring me into the Number One Numis Team. It has been just 1 week now since I enrolled. Thanks to you and to the team currently as of today I have 66 newly enrolled active reps in my downline including the reps that I have personally enrolled in the team. Thank you Numis!!Prosperity to the Numis Team,Randall P Harris

    • Blue book is a general idea on what a coin eleadr may pay you for a coin. Coin prices change constantly. If you are looking to grade a coin you can send it in to be slabbed but sometimes you pay more for the slab than the coin is worth. A good guide for grading is photograde. If your into error coins pick up the cherrypicker’s guide.PS the coin in PR65 Cameo is only worth $32 retail. A eleadr may pay $20 or $15. That is more than the silver price.

    • In case you’re in the usa, you may have witnessed on the news or if phraeps a person continue with the market, the price tag on gold and silver coins are inclined up. The real reason for that is predominantly for the reason that price of the actual U . s . money is certainly going straight down, although some people might Four decades move, the United states cardstock money was reinforced by simply difficult possessions such as gold and silver.

    • I just came back from visiting the United States and let me tell you what a tsiasder and very unwelcoming place. We went from Ontario, Canada to the Boston marathon. Now, seeing how the Boston Marathon averages over #20,000 runners and then you have the spectators, friends and family coming to watch, you would think that the stores, and banks, would be more accomodating to exchaning money. NOT AT ALL!!!! We did exchange to American money at the beginning, but we gave to their local economy by doing some shopping. Then we went to pay Canadian funds for a hotel room and got totally denied. I think the worst experience was that when we went to the local bank, they did everything but take blood when asking for my personal identification. This included a fingerprint of me!! They treated me more like a criminal than anything, but yet who was there when the towers fell? CANADIAN!! I work at a local hotel and we accept ANY currency!!!!!! So, to my fellow North Americans, get with the time!!!
